My grandparents, Don Wilfrido and Doña Concepción, opened the first Ricoton in the 1980s on 5th Avenue in Asunción, Paraguay, upon their return from political exile in Argentina. It quickly became a staple of the Barrio Obrero neighborhood, known above all for its empanadas and pastries.

 

My parents, Felipe and Alicia, carried the legacy forward with the same passion, expanding the business from Asunción to San Lorenzo and later to Encarnación.

 

After my grandfather and father passed away in 1994, my mother took over the business and ran it until she decided to move to the United States. My brother Sebastián and I, Hernán, followed her, and together we opened Ricoton in Damascus, Montgomery County, in 2019.
